auf diesem Wege ein grosses Dankeschön für die wundervollen Tage beim
WorldMediaFestival 2008. Wir hatten erstmals teilgenommen und waren begeistert.
Es war viel mehr, viele größer, viel glanzvoller, als wir erwartet
hatten. Die perfekte Organisation ließ eine sehr persönliche,
ungezwungene Atmosphäre entstehen. Interessante Beiträge,
interessante internationale Kontakte und keine Spur von Konkurrenzdenken; es war
wie das Treffen einer großen Familie und hat uns riesig Spaß
gemacht.
Das Sahnehäubchen war die Awards Gala. Ganz ehrlich, wir glauben nicht,
dass sich ein "Oscar-Gewinner" glücklicher fühlen kann als ein
"intermedia globe-Gewinner", wenn er auf der Bühne geehrt wird. Euer
Versprechen "we celebrate the winners!" habt Ihr im wahrsten Sinne
gehalten. Nochmals von ganzem Herzen Danke an das gesamte intermedia-Team! Wir

Time flies. A month already since we met in Hamburg. I want to thank you
again for the invitation - and the awards! The special UN - award really took
me by surprise. The news was received with great joy back home. The people
involved in the films story "A nose for danger" (Apopo Foundation trains rats
to find land-mines) are confident that the prize will open doors internationally. As a
matter of fact, the Belgian Minister For Foreign Affairs Karel de Gucht, mentioned the
story while on a visit in Zagreb and the Croatian television asked for a copy of the

für das gelungene Festival zu bedanken. Was der Gewinner des GrandPrix bei der Preisverleihung auf
der Bühne sagte, möchten wir unterstreichen. Auch wir wünschen uns, daß das
WorldMediaFestival zu dem internationalen Festival wird. Dafür gibt es eine Vielzahl von
Gründen:
Die auf Anhieb erreichte Internationalität besticht. Der Einreicher muß sich einer
internationalen Konkurrenz stellten, kann aber selbst auch internationale Vergleiche ziehen - und etwas
daraus lernen. Die Jury ist international besetzt. Viele Produktionen sind schließlich nicht nur
den deutschen Markt gedacht und müssen international funktionieren, also auch international
beurteilt werden.
Die Vielfalt der Kategorien macht es einem leicht, seine Produktion auch wirklich da unterzubringen wo
sie hinpasst - ohne Kompromisse machen zu müssen. Damit werden dankenswerter Weise auch nur
vergleichbare Medien einander gegenübergestellt.
Das Versprechen, die zielgruppenadäquate Umsetzung bei der Beurteilung ganz wesentlich ins
Kalkül zu ziehen, wurde eingelöst. Danke, daß nicht - wie bei vielen anderen Festivals-
nur der zum Zug kommt, bei dem das Geld von der Leinwand tropft. . .
Die Preisverleihung war ein Erlebnis - sicher nicht nur für die Preisträger. Der Rahmen war
sehr originell, die Moderation erfrischend locker. Es gibt ja so viele steife Preisverleihungen.
Eine ganz persönliche Meinung am Schluß: Es gibt ja soviel scheußliche Trophäen.
Auch hier hebt sich Ihr Festival sehr positiv von vielen anderen Wettbewerben ab.
Wir freuen uns schon auf das nächste WorldMediaFestival.

Dear Cora,
Still filled with emotions of winning the BIG price of the Worldmediafestival, I think
every day of that wonderful experience. Every minute of the day I am still thinking about
it, as if it were a dream. Is this real? Did I really win this prize on a very challenging
festival with lots and lots of quality programs ? It was such a good feeling to know that
the jury understands what I did. . . . I also find that the low profile presence of jury
members was perfect. In Belgium I have never been nominated for a price on local festivals.
On some occasions some members of the jury criticised my film: I have a bad influence on
youth, too much sex, too much violence. In Germany though, you understood I use the
language of the young one to teach them about something else: the danger of the
HIV-virus.
